It would be nice if the buttons we currently have actually did something at all. Most buttons have no effect on the timings of pedestrian crossings because they are under the control of timing systems.

R.M. , Fri Jul 1 02:56:24 2005 :

Who would give a flying f... to press that button once he has the chance of crossing the street? It would cost a huge amount of money to install these buttons but only idiots would waste their precious time to press that button.

if you did it in a city with a grid plan, say paris, or New York, or even Adelaide, you could, due to the proliferation of traffic lights in the latter two's city center, trap every single car. in London, due to the somewhat more organic method of planning used for the majority of roads over the last 2 mellenii, cars could escape back into the wild.

Reclaim the streets......
When walking down the street press the button on every pedestrian crossing you come to - go on a walk around london for the day with friends but stagger yourselves at about 2-3minutes intervals/gaps and do the same, voila, gridlock, or just jam the button in with gum 'n glue and the light just keep going to the red cycle - create your own Italian Job style Jam, woohoo. xd
